Foot Sweating

The main cause of foot odor is foot sweating. The main cause of foot sweating is the wearing of shoes and socks. Unfortunately, it's not always possible to go around barefoot. But there are things we can do to minimize foot sweating. A few methods for treating foot sweating include wearing the correct shoes, using a foot antiperspirant or foot deodorant, wearing silver socks to kill bacteria and transfer excess heat and iontophoresis treatments.

Sweaty Feet & Shoes

Shoes - this seemingly insignificant article of clothing can, in fact, be more like a double-edged sword. Keep them off and everyone can smell your feet. Wear them to hide your foot odor, and the longer they're on, the sweatier your feet get, making it impossible to remove them in public without quickly jumping in a lake. The Chinese believe that a person feels the way their feet feel. Wouldn’t you rather feel fresh, clean and relaxed than cramped, sweaty and smelly?

Foot Antiperspirant & Deodorant

Klima Surefoot Spray is a foot antiperspirant that keeps feet dry and fresh for up to 5 days. Simply spray your feet and you are good to go. Freshfoot Antiperspirant Serum is an aluminum-free foot gel that does much the same thing. Minteos Wipes are an odor-blocking and perspiration-blocking wipe that prevents smelly and sweaty feet for up to 3 days. They also freshen your foot with antibacterial properties. Iceover Deodorant Soap is an excellent product that uses teatree and lemongrass essential oils to prevent food odor from occurring.

Plantar Hyperhidrosis

Plantar Hyperhidrosis is the technical term for Extreme Foot Sweating. 3-5% of the world suffers from some for of hyperhidrosis. Luckily, plantar hyperhidrosis is one of the easier forms of hyperhidrosis to treat.

Smelly Feet

Smelly feet are mainly caused by moisture from sweaty feet getting trapped between your toes, and inside your socks and shoes. The bacteria starts to multiply, and since our feet are kept nice and warm inside shoes and socks, the moisture has no way of evaporating - which leads to smelly feet. Simply putting a deodorant on your feet isn't going to address the wetness; in an hour or so, it will fail, leaving you with smelly feet again.

Remedies for Smelly Feet

The best remedy for smelly feet is to use a product that will dry out the excess perspiration. Klima Surefoot Spray, Freshfoot Antiperspirant Foot Serum, Mintoes Foot Wipes and Silver Socks are 4 great products that will get rid of your smelly and sweaty feet. Silver socks use real silver threads inside the socks, or a silver colloidal spray that you apply to your own socks, that allow the excess heat to travel up your leg and dissipate. This keeps your feet cooler, preventing odor and wetness. The silver also acts as a natural odor blocker, killing 99.9% of bacteria. Finally, iontophoresis machines are the final product in the battle against sweaty feet. If topical products and silver socks are not strong enough to get rid of your sweaty feet, then your hyperhidrosis (extreme sweating) is considered severe. Iontophoresis machines use small electrical pulses to temporarily block your sweat pores for up to 2 weeks.
